How to achieve results with your diet

There are few things more frustrating than dieting without achieving results. You can reach your goal weight if you follow a few key steps.

You will need to stock up on healthy snacks to avoid a late night run for fast food. If you already have food in the house, you are more likely to use what’s on hand. To cut out snacking that can sabotage your diet, set a time after which you are no longer allowed to eat — say after 6 p.m.

Get some exercise. You need at least 60 minutes a day if you can. The more muscle you build, the higher your metabolism will be. You should get some strength training in, in addition to cardiovascular work. Even little things will help so walk around while you talk on the phone or take the stairs instead of the elevator to burn extra calories.

It is very helpful to limit yourself in terms of choices at meals. If you have a whole buffet in front of you, you are more likely to overeat. And never ask other people to fetch food for you. If you get up to get it yourself you might find out that you don’t want it badly enough to actually go get it.

Fill up and eat slowly at every meal as it takes 20 minutes for your brain to register that your stomach is full. Eat enough that you will be satisfied until you’re able to eat again. Depriving yourself will never get you diet success, but making a goal and believing that you can get there will.
